Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Bonnes Mares Grand Cru 2007

Tell A Friend  Tell A Friend

Variety: Pinot Noir

Many domaines in Burgundy can trace their roots back over 100 years, but only a handful can claim more than 200 years, to 1450 and the Chambolle vines of one Jean Moisson. Highly regarded as the greatest estate in Chambolle Musigny, today the domaine is headed by its 20th generation--Claire de Causans and Marie de Ladoucette, the granddaughters of the late Comte Georges de Vogüé.

Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé is inextricably linked to the Grand Cru vineyard of Musigny, considered by many the pinnacle of Pinot Noir. Until 1936 the vineyard was conveniently split into just two climates--a narrow east-west track splitting the climate of Le Musigny from the more southerly and slightly smaller Les Petits-Musigny. The domaine ranks among the very best Burgundy houses. (Wine.Com)

Tasting Note:

(92-95 Points – Burghound)

“Here the nose is distinctly more reserved with a broad panoply of ripe floral and fruit aromas that include red raspberry, cherry, plum, violet and rose surrounded by warm soil tones that can also be found on the powerful and tautly muscled large scaled flavors blessed with ample underlying reserves of dry extract that render the relatively refined tannins invisible at present on the explosive and exceptionally deep finish where notes of citrus and floral resurface. A seriously impressive wine and I expect this to continue to improve in barrel before it hits the bottle.”
